For Bopinc I am looking for a Business Controller (combination between 50% Financial Control and 50% FP&A).
Bopinc (+/- 60 employees) is a Dutch not-for-profit that accelerates the impact of market-driven and innovative business models in low-income markets. They support our clients in making their businesses more inclusive and viable by including people at the Base of the Pyramid as consumers, producers and entrepreneurs in the supply chain. They currently operate in Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenia & Bangladesh.
Bopinc works with a wide variety of start-ups, SMEs and multinational companies to achieve this. Over the past ten years we have worked with more than 1,200 companies, reaching more than 5 million low-income consumers, while creating better income opportunities for over 150,000 low-income entrepreneurs.
An example of their work: with Folia Water to introduce ultra low-cost, silver-infused paper water filters in Bangladesh, aiming to provide safe drinking water to low-income communities.
The organization is guided by a Management Team which includes the Countries’ Directors. This role will focus on supporting the Finance Director in pursuing financial operational excellence whilst distilling key commercial insights across offices.
The Finance team:
- Each country office (4 – Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenia & Bangladesh) has their own Country Accountant for the local reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- In the Netherlands, there are:
- 1 Financial Manager based that takes care of all transactional finance (GL/invoicing/general accruals).
- 1 Project Controller who does the donor reporting
- 1 Finance & Risk Director on a more strategic level
This role will take place between the Finance & Risk Director and the others (mostly the Country Accountants).
You tasks/responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the month-end pack, consisting out of:
- Monthly P&L report for The Netherlands, including narratives on actual vs budget (our P&L is straightforward)
- Monthly Country office P&L Report (this is done by each country; you need to ensure it is completed correctly so the FD can incorporate the country results in the NL P&L)
- Monthly Cash Flows
- Posting monthly accruals
- Checking the month-end financial calendars and month-end checklists to ensure all Country Offices are delivering on time
Additionally, I would like to eventually look at reporting by cost center, so you need to work together with the FD on that.
Next to that:
- Preparation of yearly budgets (these are straightforward; all Country accountants use a template; you need to ensure all budgets are done correctly)
- Monthly forecasted Income (we have a rolling forecast; you need to ensure/check that all country offices and NL are up to date)
- Monthly accruals posting for NL (there are only 3 standard accruals to be posted)
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Identifying areas where we can streamline processes (you will collaborate with the Country accountants and NL to determine what needs to be done)
- Helping facilitate the country internal audits (which have to be set-up yet)
- Ad hoc transformation projects
Accounting system: AFAS – would be beneficial if a candidate has experience in this software.
What Bopinc offers:
- A nice job in a very cool and international purpose-driven organisation where you can make impact
- Salary up to €6.250 gross a month based on 40 hours a week (excl. 8% holiday allowance)
- Good pension ruling
- Free parking spot
